Goldbeck Recruiting is a top international recruitment agency, located in Vancouver, BC, but serving a wide geographical marketplace.

Goldbeck Website

My Role

I was hired as a UX designer to completely redesign this B2B recruitment platform serving a two-sided marketplace: employers as paying clients and job seekers as users. The primary challenge was balancing enterprise client requirements with consumer-grade UX expectations to create seamless experiences for both audiences.

RESEARCH

Market Research

The primary source of information for this study was the Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey. The analysis of data, including metrics such as Employment Growth by Province (%), Employment (‘000) by Province, Provincial Employment Rates (%), and BC Employment and Unemployment by Age and Gender, provided critical insights. This analysis helped identify the sectors and specialties that needed to be highlighted on the website to better address the needs of job seekers and employers.

Additional insights from Canadian Staffing Industry Reports and recruitment benchmarks, such as time-to-hire and candidate experience trends, further informed content priorities and website structure. These combined findings ensured the redesign aligned with both market realities and user expectations.

Competitor Analysis

I analyzed five key competitors in the market, which are Randstad, TRS Staffing Solutions, Impact Recruitment, Aplin, and Recruiting in Motion. This competitive analysis was essential to understand industry standards, identify opportunities for differentiation, and uncover gaps in user experience.
Evaluating competitors’ strengths and weaknesses helped me gain insights into design patterns, navigation structures, and functionalities.

Stakeholder Interviews (Qualitative Research)

I conducted a one-hour semi-structured interview with Henry Goldbeck, President of the company, and upper management. The session was recorded, transcribed using AI tools, and thoroughly analyzed. Same format interviews were conducted with three employer clients who hired specialists through the agency and three employees who obtained job placements, providing insights from both sides of the recruitment process.

Key Insights

  • A pre-screening process is required.
  • Job Seekers and Employers need distinct navigation paths.
  • All content, including descriptions, job postings, blog articles, and dedicated agents, should be tailored to specific areas of expertise to provide a customized experience.
  • Monthly updates showcasing the current market situation, including unemployment rates across Canada and by city.
  • Statistics of previous job placements in this area of expertise, including salary information
  • Video guide explaining the recruitment process
  • The ability to filter job postings based on salary range.
